Separation and Divorce Counselling

A separation or divorce can be an extremely difficult situation to be faced with, especially if there are children involved. One of the issues that deeply impact children is the inevitable change in their family dynamics. Although it can be difficult for the adults to navigate through such circumstances, it is easier for them if they seek the help and guidance of a professional counsellor experienced in such matters.

It is important to help your children adapt to the changes they are about to go through for their well-being and mental health. Children can feel like their whole world, as they know it, has been torn apart. They are better able to adapt if they receive caring support and understanding from their parents. This will help them understand the emotions they are experiencing and can feel more secure about the changes they face. Added support for children is also important and can come from such sources as:

  • Caregivers
  • Siblings
  • Extended family
  • Respected community members

Separation and divorce can also be extremely challenging especially when children are involved. Teenagers can process divorce in different ways, including acting out, or becoming closed off. It can be helpful for them to talk to someone outside the family about the separation of their parents. I offer counselling for teens experiencing life changes.

The support and guidance of a professional counsellor can help you navigate a path to where all those involved can find peace and confidence in their own personal growth.
