Navigating through our teenage years can be a challenge at the best of times. Although issues facing both adults and teens can be similar, teens have the added disadvantage of lacking many life experiences. It can also be difficult for them to fully trust or feel safe opening up to an adult they do not know. With 25 years of experience working with both parents and teenagers, I understand the particular issues that teens face trying to navigate the complexities of their world and their path in transitioning to adulthood.
Teens, just like adults, deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and openness. I provide all teens with a safe place to express the difficulties they are facing in an understanding and non-judgemental atmosphere. Creating a therapeutic relationship, I can help with:
- Dealing with issues of anxiety including social anxiety
- A better and healthy way to understand mood changes
- Explore your needs and possible goals
- Connect with your peers and adults in a positive way
- Gain confidence and control within the world around you
- Move beyond difficult or traumatic experiences
Along with the more typical challenges that teens face, I can help them navigate issues surrounding such topics as:
- ADD/ADHD management
- Anger management
- Manage difficult life events such as bullying, divorce/separation, illness, and more
I have been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 2005 and have extensive experience in working with teenagers as well as parents of teenagers. Working in residential treatment programs and school support programs has afforded me the opportunity to better understand the unique challenges that teens are facing. I connect easily with teens and am able to make them feel comfortable and safe sharing their concerns and experiences with me. Understanding that there is no judgment makes it possible to connect in a positive way and explore meaningful solutions and greater confidence in moving forward.
I look forward to helping your teen find the joys and rewards of a more peaceful path on their journey into adulthood.
